Unified Communications 101

Unified Communications (UC) brings together multiple phones, devices and networks (fixed, Internet, cable, satellite, mobile). It can be considered an evolution of IP Telephony, integrating communications with business processes and allowing companies to streamline operations, improve productivity and profitability.

What does UC really mean?
Unified Communications has the potential to positively impact almost every part of the business. Imagine if your staff could:

  • work from anywhere, accessing their messages, corporate resources (like the staff directory) and having full sof-phone functionality when travelling
  • collaborate easily across offices using integrated Web video-conferencing, document sharing and audio that enable virtual teams
  • reduce email and eliminate "phone tag" by using applications like presence to reach colleagues the first time
  • improve customer service by ensuring customer calls are always routed just to the right person, regardless of where they are.

Download our whitepaper (complete the form below to download), which looks at why a rapidly growing number of organisations are implementing Unified Communications and how to build a business case. It also has recommendations for developing a UC strategy and considers some pitfalls to avoids. If you already have an IP Communications infrastructure, it's worth considering some of the applications - like Web collaboration, audio conferencing or video - that can extend considerable extra functionality to users.

We can also provide free Unified Communications assessment. This complimentary service looks at the readiness of the current infrastructure, determines what applications would provide most value to the business and provides an estimate of the cost and ROI.
