NetStar's NetManage/Traffic Management service provides dynamic reporting on traffic going across a network. This enables network performance to be measured and any issues to be quickly addressed. It is particularly useful in environments that have time-sensitive applications (such as IP Telephony) where network latency and performance needs to be proactively monitored.
Overview
By providing visibility into the traffic across the network, NetStar's NetManage/Traffic Management service enables customers to analyse traffic flows across the networks, down to an application level. Information can be quickly accessed in real-time, and historical data viewed to trouble-shoot network problems.
Thresholds can also be set against traffic parameters (eg. jitter) and an alarm generated if this is breached. This enables NetStar to provide a proactive response to performance degradation before they impact critical network services.
Features
nVisage (NetStar's Web-based network management application) uses SNMP to collect statistics from agents embedded in
|
Cisco's IOS software. This includes data and graphical summaries of traffic using:
- SAA: Latency, Jitter, Packet Loss and Trunk Utilisation
- Netflow: Top Talkers, Listeners, Protcols and Conversations on each device
- CBQoS: Class Utilisation and Class Drops
Benefits
NetManage/Traffic Management provides benefits to customers across four key areas:
- Increases visibility of network performance: provides key statistics on the health of the network and performance links (eg. jitter, latency)
- Verifies SLAs: enables customers to compare actual network performance against service level commitments made by telco service providers
- Assists in troubleshooting network issues: identify the source of issues that are related to poor performance (for example, high latency affecting call quality in a VoIP environment)
- Infrastructure Planning: assists in capacity planning based on average and peak network performance metrics.
